they are now talking about filing a claim against my disability check.

I’m not sure what you mean by “damage”, but you can ask to have your student loan “discharged” because you became totally and permanently disabled and could not work.

Call your lender and request the paperwork. You will have to have your doctors sign off on it and it will take quite a bit of time, (they will prob still garnish your disability check until you are approved or denied). Usually your disability can not have been around BEFORE you took out the loan, it would of had to be something that occured after you took out the loan.
