Am I doing well (financially) for a 3rd-year college student? Am I irresponsible (financially)?

Question by Hsf: Am I doing well (financially) for a 3rd-year college student? Am I irresponsible (financially)?
I got $ 2300 in the bank account and ZERO debt. My parents pay tuition and rent.

My income is very small, about $ 400/month. However, that is enough to support my alcohol and drug habit. Also enough to supply my broke roommate with cheap liquor and weed. My friends keep asking me for money (because they know I have some) and I, foolishly, keep “loaning” them money. They haven’t paid back so far.

Am I doing well? Am I irresponsible?

Am I being taken advantage of by my friends?

Would you feel you were being responsible financially if your tuition and rent weren’t paid for? No, you’re not. If you were, you would be saving that up or using that money to make up at least part of the costs to your parents.

Yes, you’re being taken advantage of by your friends and roommate.
